A CASE OF PLACENTA PREVIA….

She was a young bubbly girl in her mid-twenties, carrying her second pregnancy

She is a case of previous LSCS booked outside.She suddenly rushed in during busyhours of OPD with profuse painless bleeding pv. She’s diagnosed to have central placenta previa ( placenta completely covering os) with 26 wks of pregnancy. She was immediately admitted. Her Hb was 8g%! & 2 units of blood transfusion given.

With utmost care & further 2 episodes of bleeding, we crossed our fingers crossed to wait till baby reaches maturity without compromising mother’s safety!

At around 30 weeks of pregnancy, she had a heavy bout of bleeding which didn’t settle down & hence did an emergency caesarean section with stepwise vascular ligation.Uterus contracted well.

Baby weighed 1.4 kg & was kept in NICU care for 1 week.

Both mother & Baby recovered well..

STORY OF A PREGNANCY WITH ABNORMAL HAEMOGLOBIN…

A 26 yr old female in her first pregnancy , booked outside came to our OPD in her 27 wks of pregnancy.

She appeared clinically normal but her Hb was 7.8 g% . 6 doses of iv iron injections were given & she still remained anemic.

Detailed haematological evaluation revealed her to be a carrier of abnormal Hb . She had a genetic condition , “Heterozygous B thalessemia“. Her partner was also checked & he was normal.Haematologist opinion obtained & pregnancy followed up.

She was induced @ term because of reduced amniotic fluid(Oligohydramnios).In-spite of good pains , baby’s heart rate dropped & emergency caesarean section was done. Active measures for prevention of bleeding taken & patient recovered well.There was no need for blood transfusion also!!

Both mother & baby went home happily…
